Seeking Wisdom in Business (and Life) — God’s Open Invitation

"If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you."— James 1:5 (NIV)

Let’s just be real for a second — how many times have you found yourself sitting at your desk (or kitchen table... or in your car between errands) thinking: "Lord, I have NO idea what I’m doing right now."

Maybe you’re deciding on a new offer for your clients. Maybe you’re wondering if it’s time to hire help (but your budget is side-eyeing you hard). Maybe you’re dealing with a difficult customer, a partner who doesn’t get the vision, or a new opportunity that both excites and terrifies you.

Friend, I’ve been there. Often.

And here’s the beautiful, steady truth we have as faith-driven entrepreneurs: God doesn’t get tired of us asking for wisdom. He doesn’t roll His eyes. He doesn’t keep score. He doesn’t say, “Well, you should’ve figured that out by now, Becky!" Nope. James 1:5 promises that if we lack wisdom, we should ask — and He will give it generously and without finding fault.

Can we just pause and breathe that in? God isn’t stingy with wisdom. He’s not withholding. He’s not waiting for you to prove you’re “good enough” to handle big business decisions. He’s ready to pour insight, clarity, and direction right into your situation — if only you’ll ask.

Why We Forget to Ask

If you’re like me (a recovering do-it-all-myself  kind of gal), you might forget to ask because:

  • You think you should already know the answer.

  • You get busy putting out fires and never slow down to pray.

  • You feel like your business decisions are too small to bother God with.

But sis, there is no “small” to the One who designed every hair on your head and every step of your journey. If it matters to you, it matters to Him.

An Invitation to Pause

Today, I want to invite you — no, challenge you — to take God at His Word on this. Pick one key area in your business where you feel stuck or uncertain. Just one. Maybe it’s your marketing plan. Maybe it’s your pricing structure. Maybe it’s a tough conversation you need to have.

Then, pray. Ask boldly for wisdom in business. No fancy words needed — just an open heart and an honest ask:"Lord, I lack wisdom here. Please give me the insight I need."

And then… (this is important)... listen.

Your Action Step (Because You Know I Love Practical Steps!)

  1. Pray specifically over that one business area today.

  2. Journal any thoughts, ideas, or even random nudges that come up afterward.

(Sometimes God’s wisdom comes as a sudden idea. Sometimes it’s a slow clarity over days. Both count!)

Friend, I believe God delights in partnering with you in your business. You don’t have to carry every decision alone. You have access to divine wisdom — the kind that cuts through confusion and lights up the path ahead.

Let’s be women (and men!) who stop striving and start asking. Let’s normalize wisdom-seeking in our entrepreneurial journey. Let’s build businesses that are led, not just by strategy, but by Spirit-filled guidance.

With Love & Faith,

Becky
