Why Every Home Needs a Good Bible (And the One I Recommend)

I don’t know how else to say this, so I’ll say it straight: every home needs a good Bible.

Not a dusty one on a shelf. Not the one you can’t read because the font is size “ant.”Not the one that’s a hand-me-down from your abuelita’s cousin’s godmother’s neighbor (although I do love a good family heirloom!).

I mean your Bible. One that makes you want to sit down, open it, and stay awhile. One that invites you to meet with God in your real life—today’s to-dos, questions, and chaos included.

Why it matters so much

Having a Bible that you can read, understand, and enjoy makes a world of difference. It becomes more than a book. It becomes:

  • A daily anchor when life is swirling.

  • A reference point when you’re trying to figure out what to do or what’s true.

  • A love letter that reminds you who you are and whose you are.

In my 21-day devotional, I share short reflections based on verses that have carried me through entrepreneurship, parenting, exhaustion, and all the "how do I keep going?" seasons. But guess what? Those verses live in context. There’s more to the story. And if you want to go deeper (which I always recommend), you need a Bible you actually want to spend time with.

My Personal Favorite: The NIV Beautiful Word Bible, Journal Edition for Women

Let me tell you, this Bible is a treasure.

I’ve tested a lot of Bibles over the years. I’ve had my minimalist seasons, my highlighting-everything seasons, and my "where’s the concordance" seasons. But this one? She’s a keeper.

Here’s why I recommend it to every woman of faith, whether you’re a seasoned Bible reader or just starting out:

Readable font that won’t make your eyes cross by Leviticus

Beautiful, hand-lettered verses throughout that feel like little encouragement notes from Heaven

Wide margins that invite your thoughts, questions, prayers, and grocery lists (because let’s be real, it all ends up in there)

Durable hardcover and lay-flat design that’s both practical and pretty

Perfect size to toss in your tote or leave on your coffee table without it taking up your whole life

And because it’s NIV, you get a trusted, accurate translation in today’s language that feels approachable, not confusing.

How to use it with my devotional

When you read a verse in my devotional, I highly recommend opening your Bible and reading the full chapter it comes from. Why?

Because sometimes God isn’t just speaking through one sentence—He’s telling you something bigger. And sometimes the verse hits harder when you see what came before it or what happened after.

Here’s a simple rhythm I suggest:

  1. Read the verse from the devotional.

  2. Flip to the chapter in your Beautiful Word Bible.

  3. Underline what stands out. Write your thoughts or even your prayers in the margins.

  4. Ask God: “What are You trying to say to me today?”

You don’t need a seminary degree or a quiet house to do this. Just an open heart and a Bible that supports your journey.

Where to find it

I keep this Bible in my home, and I’ve gifted it to friends, teens, and even a few mamas who thought they didn’t have time to read the Word. (Spoiler: They do now, and they love it.)

If you want to check it out, here’s the one I recommend: https://amzn.to/45eQcJd (affiliate link)

It’s one of those tools that makes the quiet time actually quiet—and meaningful.

Final Thoughts

If you’re feeling like your spiritual life has been on autopilot, or you’re trying to grow your faith as a Christian entrepreneur, mom, or just person trying to figure things out—start with the Word.Let God speak to you directly.

And get a Bible that feels like it was made just for you. Because friend, it’s not just about reading. It’s about remembering who you are, and anchoring your life to truth when everything else changes.

Let’s be women who are rooted, ready, and reverent.
